Pikliz (Haitian Spicy Pickled Veg)


Ingredients

  • 1/2 head green cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 1 large white onion cut into thin half moons
  • 1/4 cup kosher salt
  • 2 medium carrots, peeled and julienned
  • 8 habaneros, thinly sliced
  • 2 large shallots, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 1 cup lime juice
Directions
  • Mix everything together and leave at room temperature for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Pour into airtight containers and refrigerate for at least 1 day. 
  • Best within the first 6 months.
