Pikliz (Haitian Spicy Pickled Veg)
Ingredients
- 1/2 head green cabbage, thinly sliced
- 1 large white onion cut into thin half moons
- 1/4 cup kosher salt
- 2 medium carrots, peeled and julienned
- 8 habaneros, thinly sliced
- 2 large shallots, thinly sliced
- 1 cup white vinegar
- 1 cup lime juice
Directions
- Mix everything together and leave at room temperature for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Pour into airtight containers and refrigerate for at least 1 day.
- Best within the first 6 months.
